New Poll of The Week!

Last week's POTW closed with six of you saying that you were most like Charlotte. (I'm pretty disappointed that there weren't more votes for Stanford Blatch. Love him and the gays!) I guess that's not much of a shock since we ARE in the South after all... most Southern girls want the fairy tale life and whatnot (hence why there are so many shotgun weddings, divorces and knocked up people around here). Good for ya'll!

This week I decided to go upgrade my POS LG phone for a Blackberry. Thus, I have a Roxanne of my very own. Except she is the much classier Blackberry Tour:

I can't quite decide on what I should name her. I have it narrowed down to a couple of options:

1. Jack Black Berry
2. Halle Black Berry (Current Fave)
3. Roseanne (to go with Roxanne)
4. Olivia (After the 1st Lady of G-Unit)

Help!

Madness

Since the last time I blogged, I have been crazy busy. By crazy busy I mean that I've been running around so much with errands and sweating my yams off on set and back and forth and what not, that I've even lost 5 lbs... maybe 6 (I'm going by clothes size, not by scale since I don't have one... Woot for Skinny Bridesmaid). I've finally gotten the 10 minutes that I need to write a blog, even though I have no direction, I just basically wanted to write and say that I'm not dead (since I KNOW you were all wondering).

Friday, I got these from my bosses:

On the card it said that I am underappreciated (amen) for all the work that I do. How sweet! I accidentally left them on my desk over the weekend (after I bolted to the door to get out of here and over to the Stray Cat) so this is them in their wilted state, which is still pretty good. Also, its a crappy pic because I was trying to be all nonchalant in the office with it.

Oh yeah. So, the same celebrity that requested the carseat was a MAJOR C.U. Next Tuesday to me today on set and I wanted to knock her tooth out like Carrie did on SATC when 'said actress' was chasing Carrie down the stairs and then fell after she caught Carrie in Big's apartment. (That sounded more confusing than I think it really was.) Anyway...Ugh... made me so mad. Enough of my huffing and puffing, I suppose. I'm going to update the Poll of the Week soon so take it and have a wonderful day after the holiday!

New Poll of The Week!

Well, Billie Jean took the cake last week with 9 votes for favorite Michael Jackson song. Smooth Criminal came in second with 8. I apologize to all of those who wished to choose Dirty Diana as their favorite, but I simply forgot to add her. Hopefully I can make it up to you someday.

Since I have been driving around and running errands for a lot of my time during work lately, I have noticed some inappropriately named vehicles roaming the roads with me. Has anyone ever noticed how suggestive some make/models of cars are? Let's discuss some names of vehicles that, if read into, could be really offensive (at least if you have a dirty mind):

Dodge Dart Swinger

Ford Probe

Dodge Ram

The Hummer

Seriously, can we be any more suggestive? The streets should come with a ratings system nowadays. So which car model do you find the most sexually offensive?

New Poll of The Week!

Last week's poll of the week closed with a whopping six of you saying that you never read the Babysitter's Club series because you were outside playing with your friends. Sad Kate. Oh well, at least some of you voted otherwise. So Dawn Schafer (as predicted) came in 2nd place with 4 votes. Since six of you never read the series and the remaining 11 of you voted for Dawn, Claudia, Mary Anne and Stacey, surely the ones who voted remember the Babysitter's Club Movie, right? Well, this little lady played Dawn Schafer:

Who could forget Larissa Oleynik from 10 Things I Hate About You and Alex Mack? Whatever happened to that girl? I've heard many interesting stories lately from a current co-worker of mine and a former co-worker of hers from when they worked together on TTIHAY. She seems like she would be a really cool girl. I.E. Someone that I would hang with. Speaking of TTIHAY, when Googling an image of Larissa as Dawn, this image came up which is strange since I'm not sure that Julia Stiles would have ever had any connection with Dawn Schafer, unless she is one of the 4 that voted for her in my poll:

Small world, huh? Well since we were talking about TTIHAY (and not talking about how it was one of the first films to feature Heath Ledger in all of his hotness), let's have this week's poll discuss great movies of the 90's and which ones were our favorites! So, go vote and have a wonderful Thursday, friends!

New Poll of The Week!

Last week's "What Wine is Your Fave?" poll ended with an overwhelming amount of votes for Cabernet Sauvignon.

I'm impressed with the results because I love a good Cab Sav as well. I so anticipated that it would take the cake that when I went to Ruston last weekend, I picked up a bottle of this in order to celebrate what I thought would be the winning category:

With a label called Cupcake, I figured it had to be good. I mean, who doesn't like a cupcake? I haven't tried it yet because I don't want it to interfere with the Neti-Potting (Summer colds are officially the WORST!!!), but when I do, I'll let you guys know how it turns out. No worries though, there was a four-way tie for 2nd place. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio and Miller Lite (for you non-wine drinkers) all had 4 votes each. I'm pretty sure that was the most successful poll to date!

On to this week's poll. So last night, under the medication of NyQuil, I had a dream that took me back to elementary school. At that age, I was OBSESSED with The Babysitter's Club book series. My mother purchased me one at some point, and by the end of 6th grade I had probably 60 of them. I absolutely LOVED those books. I would read one a day during the summers and wished so badly that I could have been a member. I was one of the few children on my street so I didn't have many friends, so my best friends that I never had were Kristy Thomas, Claudia Kishi, Mary Anne Spier, Stacey McGill, Dawn Schafer, Mallory Pike and Jessi Ramsey. My first pseudo-boyfriend was Logan Bruno. Sigh. Mary Anne made a BIG mistake when she decided to break up with him. Ugh, at least he was still an alternate member of the BC after that.

Anyway, last night I dreamt that I was hanging out in Claudia's room on either a Monday, Wednesday or Friday at 5:30 and we were having our weekly meeting. They were getting on to me for slacking on my job duties lately. Stacey was eating some saltines and Claudia and her almond-shaped eyes were going through her always trendy closet. Then I woke up. So I always wanted to be Dawn. I imagined her to have the most beautiful hair, since she was a California girl and all. Take a gander at some of these book covers to take you back in time. And vote on which Babysitter's Club Member you always wanted to be. Happy Thursday!

New Poll of the Week!

Last week's poll closed with 9 of you saying that you keep cool in the summer by Never Leaving Pool.

Good choice, although I was disappointed to hear how few of you don't wear clothes. Next time, I suppose.

Well this week, the poll is going to discuss the current trends that are taking over our nation. Which one of these is the most annoying trend that you absolutely cannot stand?

A. The success of artists like Taylor Swift and the Jonas Brothers (who, Thank the Lord are finally starting to dwindle with their fame):

B. Fashion trends such as Ed Hardy and Affliction:

C. Mommy Blogs (self explanatory. No one cares about your child's first poo):

D. Stick Portrait Window Clings (I feel as though I've already been over this one):

E. Mounting your television over your mantle (TACKY. Your living room says a lot about you and I feel that your focal point should never be a 52 inch flatscreen. Save it for your man room.):

F. Twitter (although I have one and was recently attacked for saying that I don't think breastfeeding in public is appropriate. That is why they make breast pumps and bottles. No one wants to see your areolas while they are eating a pepperoni pizza.):

Vote, will you, and have a wonderful Thursday!!!

New Poll of the Week!

Well, well... so last week's poll closed with a three way tie. Three of you thought that I left my phone in the front yard. Three said in my purse and three more said in my laundry basket. Well... the last three of you were correct. I came home to search all throughout my house AGAIN and found my little phone hiding in the corner of the laundry. Sneaky little LG.

New poll of the week begins today. Since SWEPCO (my power company) has decided to issue statments asking all of its customers to set their thermostats on 80, turn out their lights and computers and wait for rolling blackouts, I decided to discuss summer heat. How do you stay cool in the summer?

New Poll of the Week!

Well, well, well. I am apparently a blogging fool today. On a roll with three blog entries posted before noon. I guess that's just how this day is going. So, the Poll of the Week closed with 6 of 13 votes saying that they are going to the beach for their summer vacas! That should be fun. And hot. More than likely, ALL of these beach visits are going to the locale below:

This photo was taken of me and my friends in Destin, Florida at a bachelorette party (Top 3 Bachelorette Parties Ever!) for my dear friend Carie Hart back in 2007. There we are, all lined up (minus the two who didn't make it into the photo, sorry Casey and Melissa, I think) on the beach with our matching airbrushed beach chairs. Good times.

Anyway, anyone from Louisiana only goes to one of two locations to the beach. 1. Destin. 2. Gulf Shores. It is a very rare exception to find a Louisianian who goes anywhere other than these two places or anywhere near the 'Flora-bama'. There are other beaches in the world, people! To each his own, I suppose.

So, yesterday, I did something really weird. I woke up by the alarm on my cell phone. Sent and received two texts. I took a shower and got ready. I went downstairs and made my coffee. Then I left the house. I got in the car and realized that I didn't have my cell phone. I went back inside and overturned the entire house for 5 minutes looking for the phone. It wasn't to be found anywhere, so I had to go to work phone-less. I got home from work at 4 and after MUCH intense searching, I found it. The new Poll of the Week is a quiz. So, where did I find my phone? Good luck!

New Poll of the Week!

Since it has been awhile since you guys have been able to vote on anything, I figured I should update the poll of the week. Last week's "What is Seattle Best Known For?" poll resulted in Rain.

Praise the Lord it didn't rain when I was there or I would have been UPSET. The weather was absolutely perfect. It varied between 65 and 71 degrees the entire week (sometimes calling for a light jacket. Aren't you jealous?) Now that I've been back the light jacket has been stowed far away from close reach. It is absolutely too hot in Louisiana.

Go ahead and take the new poll on summer vacations and look forward to yours. Or be sad that you didn't plan one.

New Poll of the Week!

Prepare yourselves, Britney fans. For you, this will be the best post EVER! For Non-Britney fans, just go ahead and go away. This is a HATER-FREE zone!

So, last week's poll closed with 8 of you preparing to be there! I'm so pumped because yesterday I scored three tickets to the show! Carie, Julie and myself will be there, in all of our white trash glory, to support our Louisianan childhood role model, Ringleader Britney!!!!:

I can just hear the 'wha-pish' of a whip now! So, for those of you who are going to the concert, which Britney do you plan on dressing up as?

I'M A SLAVE 4 U BRITNEY (AND SNAKE)

WHITE TRASH BRITNEY

New Poll of the Week!

Well, well, well. There are apparently more art lovers that read my blog than I thought. I am so proud that there was an overwhelming vote to visit the Louvre first after you arrive on your trips to Paris! And why wouldn't you, when you can see 'The Big Three' that the Louvre is famous for housing. These include:

Ah, the beautiful Mona Lisa. Which, by the way, is not as large as you would think. She is actually around the size of an 11x14 inch painting. Which is TINY considering the rest of Leonardo DaVinci's work is GIGANTIC!!! Sigh.

The enchanting 'Venus de Milo' (some know her as the 'Aphrodite of Milos') who was made around 120 BC and was found by some peasant rooting around in Greece in 1820. Turns out that, the French had to return their former most beautiful statue in the world (Medici Venus) to Italy after Napolean went and stole it from them. What an ass! Anyway, when the Venus de Milo was found, Parisian art critics promoted it to be the most beautiful statue in the world, thus gaining her (and France) worldwide fame. It's up to her viewers to make that call. However, she is absolutely breathtaking (I mean, if you like art and stuff).

The last of the "Big Three" is what I call the 'Wings of Victory' but her actual name is 'Winged Victory of Samothrace' also called the 'Nike of Samothrace'. To me, Wings of Victory is just easier to say and remember. According to research, she was made to celebrate a naval victory in the city of Rhodes. She is famous due to her naturalistic pose as well as the rendering of her drapery to depict a strong sea breeze. According to Wikipedia, the wings were included to illustrate her descent from the skies to the prow of a triumphant fleet. She was made around 250BC and is considered to be one of the great surviving sculptural masterpieces from the Hellenistic Period. This sculpture probably has the best spot in the Louvre. She sits between two major corridors. One leads to the crown jewels and the other leads to the Mona Lisa. Can't get much better than that!

You are welcome for the art history lesson.

Not that you were wondering, but the first place that I went when I arrived in Paris 5 years ago (seriously, has it been that long?) was the Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral (which if you weren't aware means Our Lady of Paris in French.) Literally, we got off the plane, dropped off our luggage at the hotel and walked over immediately to Notre Dame (we had to stay awake to properly adjust to the jet lag). Notre Dame is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever had the pleasure to set foot in (it is considered to be one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture.) It's treasury, which costs 5 euro to see, was definitely Top 5 of the things I saw while there. I will leave you with two of my personal photos from Notre Dame de Paris.

PS. Take the new poll on Britney! She is coming to Shreveport on September 19th!!!! My hopes are to be front row.

New Poll Of The Week

So, last week's poll of "What Movie Will Be The Biggest Summer Blockbuster?" ended with the result of "I Could Care Less."  Thanks, readers, for contributing.

Just in case you were wondering, Transformers 2 came in second.  Personally, I think it is going to be dumb.  Most sequels are.  I mean, who actually liked 2 Fast, 2 Furious?

Anyway, new poll this week.  The hot topic is:  "If you were in Paris, where would you go first?"

The Eiffel Tower:

Notre Dame Cathedral:

The Louvre:

The Basilique du Sacre Couer and Monmartre:

Or you can be too big for your britches and say that France and I suck.    Kisses!
