Facebook Status of the Day

"Pinto's and Rice with freash vegtables sounds so good thanks dad for makeing beans and rice now all I have to do is the vegtables"

Good God. This person shouldn't be allowed near a keyboard. Maybe this person doesn't understand the foundations regarding the red squiggly line.

Email of the Day: Sorority Edition

"Dear ******** Casting,

Today I was suppost to be at your agency for a photo shoot for the soroity girls, and to be maybe picked to be a core sorority girl as well. I will not be able to make it, becasue of me going to get my hair done. They screwed it up this past monday and I been there 3 days since to try to get it corrected. It is not blonde any longer and they made it this horrible streaky brown and blondish yellow color. I look like a skunk and it really sucks. I am so sorry. I been trying to get this fixed homing it would be ready for today. I even went this morning and they said for me to get it corrected for free it needs to be by this same guy that screwed it up. I am really sorry and if there was another date I could attend I would love to."

Thanks for letting us know of this debacle twenty minutes before you are to arrive, you dumb bitch. :)

Happy Monday!

Email of the Day: From New Orleans

"I wrote a short story on catwoman 2. I need an expert to read it and give me some feedback about it. Can I send it to you all because I want to make it into a movie. I always wanted to act but living in a small town in louisiana I don't know how. Plus I'm trying to get infromation how to become an extra but don't know how. Can you help me with this. I'm at the library so I don't have internet at home. If you can give me a call at 318-***-****, Thank you -"

Hope everyone's doing well. I'm having a great time here in the NOLA. Learning the city, learning the culture, etc. I make little mini-goals for myself when I leave my hotel. I get nervous stomach every time I drive, but hopefully once I'm comfortable here, that will subside. I had some Bloody Marys yesterday so I'm nice and puffy today. The bartender was nice enough to make a sweet little innocent display in one of them.

I spent all day on Saturday, strolling along Magazine and getting my boundaries. I had a lonesome dining experience as well. I hate dining alone, but doing so teaches me to learn to be more independent. On Sunday, I ventured via streetcar to the French Quarter. I got myself a prize:

I'll be home for Thanksgiving. I can't wait to see John's face. He could use the relief from crying himself to sleep every night.

I mean really. What does this mean? What is a beauty passion contest? I bet that's an interesting one.

So I have some exciting news to share with all two of you who read this.

I'm moving to New Orleans to work on the next film project down there. Don't worry your pretty little heads, it's not permanent. But I'm excited!!!! If I cant actually be in France, at least I can be amongst the French Quarter, baby!

Heading to the Concrete Jungle Where Dreams Are Made Up!

Well it's here! I'm leaving on a jet plane Sunday morning to NYC with Sue. Should be very fun and very interesting since we won't have Keithy with us this go around. That means we can get in more trouble. I have mini-goals for each day:

Monday: Get Sue to try sashimi and sake.
Tuesday: Get Sue to try vermouth (preferably in a dirty dirty)
Wednesday: Get Sue to drop some $$$ on something nice for herself.

Alas, these are lofty goals, but certainly not unreachable. If you are friends with me on Facebook, check back there as I will be updating on said goals.

I'm thinking about buying myself something fancy while I'm there, but it is very likely that I will pass. But, I like to consider myself a spontaneous person, so we will see. I can't wait to get there! Here's a little video for you all to watch and be envious of me that I will be there in less than 36 hours. :)

Life Lately

Life lately has been okay. Not great but not horrible, so I guess okay would be a good word. Okay is better than horrible. I'm still working on 'The Gates' (I hope you've been good friends and have been watching to support my livelihood) and am about to get started on a Nicole Kidman number. Finally. I'll get to meet her. She was atop my list, along with the likes of Meryl Streep and Julianne Moore.

Here's a trailer for that show I did "Drive Angry" back a couple of months ago. This show caused me much grief and sleepless evenings, but alas, it is 'in the can' as they say in the industry. See trailer below:

It's probably not something that I would go see in a theater, considering I think Nicolas Cage is probably the worst actor ever, but he's also in the upcoming show with the former Mrs. Cruise, so I guess I should support him, since he's supporting me.

I haven't really done much lately other than watch a TON of Big Brother and celebrate birthdays. My boss Ryan just had a birthday (37) and we hit the town last weekend with dinner and a movie at the Robinson Film Center followed by drinks at Wine Country. We saw this:

The following evening, we celebrated with the Sundance crew at Cantina Laredo. Super fun!

And that's about it. Hope everyone's having a great summer!

Email of the Day/Life Update

So, I'm pretty sure that I took this the wrong way when I read it, but I just HAD to share:

"Thank you for such a great experience! This was my first time I ever did something like this, and someone else entered me....so thanks today was so much fun :)
***********
Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T"

I hope that July is treating you lovely lambs well. Its going pretty well for me being that I've made it to the homestretch of "The Gates" without biting anyone. I hope you all are watching. It would ensure job security for myself and I would appreciate you greatly.

John's birthday is this weekend. He is turning (shh) 28. Such a precious angel. Here is a current photo of that darling boy:

That's him there on the left celebrating a USA win in the World Cup. He is in futbol heaven since that little world-wide tournament has been going on.

Well, I've missed you all. Perhaps I will be coming around more often now that my life has slowed from a dead sprint to a measly gallop. Happy Holidays, friends!

Recent Crap

I just wanted to post some pics of crap that's happened recently. First of all, Sue and I attended a gathering of some girls and moms from our high school Sunday School class. See below:

Sue telling some ridiculous story, I'm sure:

Blurry group pic:

Action shot:

This is my more than precious nephew Cooper. He has just started smiling (except he's not smiling here):

I don't have a photo of big brother Miller unfortunately. But fortunately, Miller has learned what markers are. Yet, unfortunately again, Cookie, my parents White French Bulldog is now pink. I will attempt to obtain a photo of that poor angel.

Lastly, here is Darla the Desert Rose that was gifted to me by Ron Martin. Just when I thought all hope was lost on her, she bloomed.

This should be a life lesson to never give up. Happy Memorial Day!

If You Have To Cry, Go Outside

So, I started reading Kelly Cutrone's (of People's Revolution, i.e. Kell On Earth) new book that she wrote, basically as an autobiography, but more importantly, how to make your biggest dreams come true. One of the first off the bat things she mentioned is that she had a dream to go to NYC. She had no idea what she wanted to do, but she was going to get there. She tells a story in the first chapter of how everyone around her doubted her, said she was better off staying in Syracuse and getting married and having kids... basically all these things her parents always dreamed for her, but she wanted to live her own dreams... not those dreams of others.

This got me rethinking about where I am in my life. I have family who loves me, a great job, but I feel like I'm constantly being dragged down by the expectations of others. I feel as though I can't have the life experiences that I want to have, go where I want to go, etc., because I'm always having to put my goals and dreams aside in order to make others happy.

As selfish as it seems, when friends get married or become expectant mothers, I get a little sad, not because I'm jealous, but because I feel as though everyone's moving on with their lives and I'm still stuck in the zone of wanting to hang out and talk about our lives and gossip. If I don't do these same things, I will no longer have anything in common with my friends anymore. I don't really want to get married or have a baby just because others do, but I'm not really sure how to remedy this situation (on my part).

So, I thought, long and hard about what I've always wanted to do. I've always wanted to move away to a big city, much like Kelly, where I know no one, find a job, find an apartment and live life.. for a year, two years, forever....maybe in this place:

So, I put down the Kindle, picked up the laptop and sent out a bunch of resumes. For jobs in Seattle. I doubt anyone calls me. Lord knows, with a studio art degree, I'm hardly qualified to student teach, but I just want to see what happens....

Why There Have Been No Blogs Lately

I hate to be a drag, but I've been working so much lately that I haven't had time for much of anything, especially blogging :(

I've been working on a movie starring Nicholas Cage (which is sure to be as horrible as all of his other movies, post Leaving Las Vegas) and Amber Heard...and some loser from Twilight. There's a Satanic Orgy involved, so I don't really have much to say here other than, I'm sorry, film critics. But hey, the extras will look amazing, I'm sure... as they always do.

On top of that monstrosity, I've been working on a new television series for ABC called "The Gates":

Please set your Tivo's to ensure that I have work for years to come. There are twelve episodes to film and I'm currently working on #5... wish me luck, yall.

Anyway, it should be good. I'm excited about it, but it requires CONSTANT attention by me leaving me no time to do anything. So, I'm sorry that you haven't heard from me, but I promise to be better and more attentive to this blog.

Also, I'd like to note that I did paint my bedroom green, excuse me, Gypsy Teal, for all of you who were wondering if I would ever check that off of my New Year's Resolution list. Done and done.

Email of the Day

"I been wanted to act and model for a while but I don't know who to get in touch with..I live in Plain Dealing,La and it's a really small town and no one knows nothing..I was thinking about acting classes but they cost too much..I'm 15 years old going on 16 May 25.."

What exactly is the question, here?

I miss you all. I'll be back soon, I promise!

It's Too Early for this Crap

A real status from a real person who I am 'friends' with on Facebook:

"Ok well let's see stayed awake all night long because of gun shoots, let's see can you guess which one DRIVE BY or REDNECKS with guns.

Well you if guessed REDNECKS with guns your RIGHT. We have been haveing coytoes kill goats and other live stock we also heard that there is a couger killing live stock in Keithville we...ll that's less than 5 miles from my house, I also read online that a couger travels up to 20 miles a night looking for a kill....... All I can say is my guns are loaded if it comes my way. Guess like the song you can take the girl out of the country but you can't take the country out of the girl! Lol lol lol ha ha ha ha! You just have to love a country girl!"

I don't even know what to say here other than I added the photo for effect...

Following Up... I Think

I don't know if I mentioned before that one of my New Year's Resolutions was to re-do (meaning paint and rearrange) my bedroom, but that was the plan. So, back during my two week hiatus where I fell into a deep depression of boredom, I bought all the stuff to get started. I got paint, brushes, trays, drop cloths and all that horsecrap in order to prepare to paint. And then it ended up on my dining room table for two months...

Until Friday night.

John and I ripped down some God-awful border and began the task of 'Home Improving' as some call it. Saturday we primed and painted - well John did most of the hard part, while I did things like tape, refill the paint tray and trim. Here is a preview of the result:

Don't judge the bad photo - it was taken with Halle (no offense Halle).

Be honest with me, is it too dark? Also, I bet you can take a wild guess at who was so careless as to paint parts of the ceiling green unintentionally (Hint: It wasn't me). Oh well, that will just have to be touched up at a later date, or covered with some crown molding. During the process of moving the furniture back to their destinations from the center of the room, my foot board was shattered and thus, is now pieces of it are leaning all over my room, along with the new bed frame that I purchased last night. So, indeed, this is still a work in progress and will have to be reconstrued and put about this weekend after John leaves to go on his cruise with the Belushi's.

More updates on this coming soon... stay tuned.

Bible

I kid you not, if I ever get knocked up (Please God, no!) and birth a daughter, then someone tries to gift me with a garter with a bird's nest size worth of grosgrain ribbon atop of it, I SWEAR upon all that is Holy and righteous that I will immediately throw it away after spitting upon it. Nothing, I repeat NOTHING is more God-awful than grapefruit sized headgear for infants who cannot defend themselves! Except maybe jeggins. For those of you who think it is 'cute', just go ahead and accept that you have deplorable taste. (Steps off soapbox).

LENT UPDATE!

Well, since I gave up everything that is considered Holy and Righteous (see post below) for Lent, I've pretty much eaten nothing but lettuce and salmon for the past two weeks. (Well, except that time that I went to Joey and Megan's Fiesta Wedding Shower and of course it was Build Your Own Burrito day and I ate one and a half. Oops.. I felt really bad about it and purged when I got home. Ok not really, but I did feel bad... convicted would be the proper term/feeling.) Anyway, since I've only eaten sprigs of grass, I feel like I've lost a pound or two. Feel free to compliment me on such the next time you see me.

Anyway. Life has been busy lately. I just found out that I will be coordinating two films coming up. One starting now and the other starting at the end of the month so if you wanted to get any face time in with me before September, now's the time to start booking my free time with fun activities.

Since I won't be doing anything other than being holed up in this office 'til fall, I've decided to arrange a goal if you will, to look forward to. I've decided to take this one...:

...on a trip to NYC! I asked her where in the world does she want to go on a trip. She answered NYC (even though we've already been there AND even though I STRONGLY URGED HER to choose Paris, she wanted New York. She says that Paris would be too expensive b/c that is where the original Louis Vuitton store is and she knows she'd spend a fortune in there. I say, you live once and you're going to be too old and senile by the time we can 'afford' to go to Paris, but whatever...off soapbox (also she wants John to take me there on our honeymoon. Ha! WE AREN'T EVEN ENGAGED!!!)), so off we go to NYC! (I know, I'm the best daughter ever...) So, I've contacted my travel agent and planning is in the works. I've always wanted to do something special for Sue and I feel like this will be a nice way of rewarding her for being a great mom (also, to get her out of the house before her Alzheimer's/dimensia settles in for good).

Lent

So I gave up these two things for Lent:

(Mexican food)

(Red Meat... this includes, venison, hamburger, ribs, everything that is considered Holy)

People say 'Kate, why did you give up anything for Lent at all? You aren't Catholic?' Well, for me it's not about being Catholic or Methodist or whatever religion you classify yourself as. It's about sacrifice. When I want to eat a freaking Patty Melt from Whataburger at 2AM, instead I think to self 'No, Kate. Not only will you bloat like the Goodyear Blimp afterwards, but think about the sacrifice that Christ made for you! (Slap on wrist!)' Then, I go eat a sprig of broccoli.

Let me just say that I want some Brisket Fajitas from Superior so bad right now, but I am going to wait it out... test myself, if you will and see and feel a tiny sliver of what Christ went through for us. However, come Easter Sunday, I am eating an entire rump roast... and I'm going to dip it in queso.

Back to the Kitchen

Well, I'm hosting Bunco tomorrow and I've decided to make my own King Cake. It looks disgusting, but oh trust me, it won't be! See for selves:

I messed up on the part where you add the icing, so that's why it looks so ugly, but it is going to be divine.. I am certain of it! If people decide that they like it, then I'll share the recipe.

If You Were Wondering...

So, I'm beginning pre-production on a new show starring this guy:

And I'm looking for a woman who has identical twins... possibly still pregnant (due in the next few weeks, preferably), who would be interested in having their twins be in a Mary-Kate and Ashley type situation. Basically we need a couple of babies who look alike (and who are around 2-3 months old) to be that guy's granddaughter (yeah, he's that old) in the show. I'm sure he'd autograph something for you if you asked him nicely. Just sayin. So, if you have any details or KNOW of anyone who is pregnant or has just had newborn Identical twins (can be a boy/girl too), let me know. My email is: kate@gloriosocasting.com

They will be paid and it would be a great way to begin a college fund for them. Or to get a closeup with a Coppola.

Summary of Mardi Gras 20 Ten

I'm not sure that I should go into detail. This pretty much sums it up. Oh, and I caught a life sized porcelain doll. Thanks Mark.

I Hate To Be The One To Say It...

Well, actually, I don't because it's very true, but... I've decided that Juicy Couture is the Ed Hardy for Women's Wear. Evidence:

Can these trends stop yet? Are we past it? At what point did things like stripes and paisley go so wrong to the point where we had to incorporate skulls and innocent Schnauzers into our wardrobes? Let's just be honest with ourselves here, people!!!

Carnival Season Preview Part 1

So, this is what I feel will be happening on Saturday (permitting that the fire in my throat decides to die down before I convert to a Cullen... (for those of you who read Twilight, you will understand)):

Yes, that's myself, drink in hand, catching beads with the other. It's super fun. And after a few beers, it becomes quite a challenge, but oh, don't fear, I have perfected the art (Stand in the back and don't be afraid to fight a small child).

This is a photo of our group from last year:

What a handsome group, eh? Well, I can't wait. If you live in the Port City and you are planning on heading to the Centaur parade, make sure you stop by the median between the former Camelot Lounge (then Scaredy Tatts, now closed as well) and the Crisis Pregnancy Center and trust that I will be there boxing out 5 year olds! Come say hello, it's a fun time for all!

SEND ME BACK, RIGHT NOW!

Let's just be honest with each other, here. Send me back to Sundance already, because that crap was freaking AWESOME! I was super nervous about my travel companions because who knows what sort of freaky habits come out with people you semi-know. Nothing weird at all. I bunked with The Bish and there were no problems there (unless you count my snoring, which hopefully she didn't hear, but I'm quite confident that she did... oh well).

I saw some celebs. One would include CHUY!!! He was the only one that I was really excited about. I mean after seeing him, who needs Simon Rex, Philip Seymour Hoffman, or Renee Zellweger. Talk about D list.

I'm back to booking extras this week for a low budgie called 'Six Month Rule'. Directed by the same dude that did 'Weather Girl', if you happened to catch that one. It was pretty cute, I guess.

Well, I hope you all didn't miss me too much... xoxo

Good Advice

This is the best fortune/proverb/advice that I think I've ever been given on a small piece of paper from the inside of a cookie:

This inspires me to do something unexpected... like move somewhere I've always wanted to live... or open my own business. It makes me wonder if I have the courage to do it and if I have what it takes to truly be uncomfortable for once. The outcome could suck, but at the same time, it could be amazing... Things to ponder.

Things That Are Ridiculous, Part 4,291

Two Words: Heidi Montag

Summary: Gross. Not long until she looks like that crazy cat lady, or worse... Joan Rivers or EVEN WORSE, Priscilla Presley (I say that with the utmost respect, Pri).

On another note, I leave in a week for Sundance. I have purchased warm boots, warm gloves, and long johns. I need to borrow a fuzzy hat with ear flaps from Sass, but other than that, I am set. Word.

Major Differences Between Sue and I

Recent conversation via 'text' that my mother and I had:

Kate: "Mom, which Beatle was your favorite?"
Mom: "Paul"
Kate: "Why didn't you like George?"
Mom: "He wasn't as cute and didn't say much."
Kate: "You are so superficial!"

Also, I mentioned that I was ashamed of her after mentioning that George is just like KEITHY! (With the exception of the 'not cute' part). If you have no idea who we are talking about (which, shame on you) here are some photos:

Precious Georgie, whom I was told that James Burton said that he was 'kind'. What a nice description! I believe it. Also, I can NEVER hear enough of his version of "Here Comes the Sun" (which he wrote) so I am certain that this describes him perfectly... bless.

And here's ole Paulie who ended up marrying Peg Leg Mills. Nice judge of character you've got there. Well I guess he's done some cool stuff too, but just doesn't compare to sweet Georgie.

Who's your fave?

Tired of Sleeping... is it possible?

So, I got this Memory Foam mattress cover thing for Christmas from John. I Love it! The only problem is that I never want to leave the bed. I mean really, I've been sleeping 13-14 hour nights. I must pull myself together here. I've been off work since the 23rd and I am sick and tired of doing nothing. It's like a shut in vacation or something. (Some asshats call it a 'staycation'.) I've made a semi-permanent indentation in my couch. Oops. This is why we can't have nice things.

So, my NY Resolution isn't health related to avoid disappointing myself... instead, I've decided to redo my bedroom and do a little something with my hair. I want to paint my bedroom this color:

And try to dye my hair with a semi-permanent this color (nice kinky boots, Cross):

We will see if these things actually happen, but at least I've given myself a reasonable timeline to do these things. 1 year. Ready, set, color changes.
